Shunting signal issue

Hello,

I was playing a map today that had shunting signals on the main line and I set up a route from a regular (?) signal to one expecting that I could continue that route to the next regular signal down the line, but I couldn't. How do I get around this?

Normally, shunting signals shouldn't allow routes onto the "open track" outside of a station. If you want to send a train to the next station, you have to click two "regular" signals to create a route between them. The shunting signals which might be in between will then automatically turn white.

As always, there are sometimes exceptions, but this would depend on the actual signal box you played.
